The 77-year-old Foyt had knee surgery two weeks ago, and an infection sent him to the hospital Wednesday.
A spokeswoman for the four-time Indianapolis 500 winner said Foyt was released Friday and is still taking antibiotics for the infection.
Foyt is the only driver to win the Indianapolis 500, the Daytona 500, the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Daytona Beach, Fla. ? Magnus Racing, which is based at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, won the GT class Sunday in the 50th Grand-Am Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.
The No. 44 Magnus Porsche 911, co-driven by team owner John Potter, Andy Lally, Richard Lietz and Rene Rast, completed 727 laps of the 3.56-mile course at Daytona International Speedway.
Victory came after a prolonged, head-to-head battle with the TRG and Brumos Porsche teams.
