So-So Race, But Now It?s Onto The Chase

Stewart 16th at Richmond, Starts 10-Race Chase Sixth in Points

After winning last weekend?s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Tony Stewart came into Richmond (Va.) International Raceway with his eyes set on collecting another victory and another 10 bonus that he could carry into the 10-race Chase for the Championship. It was not to be, as Stewart finished 16th in Saturday night?s Air Guard 400, but the driver of the No. 14 Old Spice/ Office Depot Chevrolet Impala for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) is still a championship contender, as he?s seeded a solid sixth in the Chase, 50 points behind top-seed Denny Hamlin.

?Tonight wasn?t a good night, but we still have that momentum off of last week,? said Stewart, who typically runs well at Richmond as evidenced by his five victories at the .75-mile oval ? three in Sprint Cup and two in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. ?I?m really proud of our guys and everybody on this Office Depot/Old Spice team and all of our partners ? everybody who?s been a part of this program the last two years and helped us build this to put us in a position where we can be in the Chase two years straight. The arrow is still pointing up, in my opinion. It wasn?t a good night tonight, but we have 10 good weeks coming up. We have 10 weeks to see what we?ve got.?
